A website built around subtraction as an artistic practice
The brief was to create an online space for Slobodan Zivic's work without imposing unnecessary visual or structural layers. I approached the website through design by subtraction, reducing the interface to essential HTML elements, typography, imagery and navigation - allowing the artist's work and the raw elements of the site itself to shape the experience.
- Design by subtraction — removed decorative UI and conventional portfolio patterns in favor of what is essential
- Content as interface — typography, imagery and HTML elements carry both the visual language and navigation
- Archive as experience — exhibitions, curatorial work and other material form an evolving index rather than being separated into conventional pages
- Designed around the artistic practice — the reduced interface reflects Zivic's own approach to stripping away irrelevant information and questioning conventional structures
